Who needs pilots?
Computers are so smart, I bet they could fly planes for us and completely get rid of pilot error.
Yeah, let’s give that a try!
Some pilots have been flying drunk and over-tired for more than 30 years without ever crashing into a forest.
I think I’ll stick with them.

That is NOT a computerized plane crashing. That is a real flight where people lost their lives!
Damn!

Anon is a retard, the plane was empty and flown by computers.

This is indeed a real flight. The AirBus a320 was attempting to do a low approach (100 ft above ground) when something obviously went wrong. The real reason for the crash is disputed, but assuredly there were pilots in the cockpit.
The technology for unmanned aerial vehicles is advancing at a steady pace, and will become a very useful military and meteorologic tool. However, if airliners are to become completely computerized (and also approved by associations such as the FAA and EASA) is something that won’t be seen until far in the future, if at all.

so which is it - real or automated? it kind of gave me the feeling of using one of those old flight simulators watching it, like, you can see you’re not headed in the right direction but there’s nothing you can do about it.

“Some pilots have been flying drunk and over-tired for more than 30 years without ever crashing into a forest.” … Some??
Hippos also run faster than some humans

The reason we don’t have computerized planes has nothing to do with technical progress. Take a look at the predator’s used by the US military. The primary roadblock is FAA regulations, which indicate that regardless of what your instruments are telling you, the pilot’s eyes are ultimately responsible for making sure he does run into anything else. This is why the predator’s can’t fly in civilian airspace.

As for the plane in the video, it’s NOT a computerized plane. It is, however a fly-by-wire airbus A320. Three passengers died in that crash.

This air bus crash happened at a French Air Show where the new joystick replaced the old half steering wheel for the first time in a plane. The joystick did or still is computerised as a home PC interacts with a joystick. This was a showing off the A320 and it’s systems. The pilot were warned and asked to return to the designated floor level. They were well below the the allowed hight. When they tried to lift over the trees they had gone beyond the point of no return to lift above the tree even at full thrust. What was unclear at the time was why they flew at below the allowed height. This was never a computerised flight or on auto-pilot. As rikkicg84 Said: They never really understood what exactly occurred in the cockpit if it was a malfunction or error of judgement. First Time on this site and with facts like this…It’ my last
