DURR-MAIDS

Last summer here in Phoenix me and some buddies spent a weekend of drinking on the lake.

We noticed two cute chicks cruising by in a little speed boat. They pulled up as close as they could manage because she was having a hard time with the steering.

The girls were embarrassed and asked us if we could take a look at the boat because everytime they try to get it going, it just drags in the water.

So me and my buddy climb up on theirs, and take a look at a few things. Everything looked cool, we even pulled up the outboards to check for something in the props but they were clean.

My friend Chris decided to jump in the water to see if they had a hole or something in the hull. He was underwater for a total of about 5 seconds before he stuck his head up and said “Dude, you have to see this.” So I jumped in.

It took me about 5 seconds as well before I was choking on the nasty lake water due to uncontrollable laughter.

What we found was beyond stupid.

The ladies forgot to take the boat off the trailer.

I don’t believe this one either. Show me a pic of a trailer without a winch connected to the front of the boat.
How was the boat fastened to the trailer?

Naw, must of heard this urban legend somewhere and decided to claim it for his own. The boats just sit on the trailer secured by a winch in front.

This one is definitely an urban legend. I have heard it told many different ways.

Reminds me of the four young idiots who borrowed their dad’s shiny new Dodge Ram and speedboat outfit for a day of drinking and boating off the Exmouth (UK) coast back in September this year.

Their trouble started when they didn’t back the trailer far enough down the sliproad to drive the boat off by it’s outboard. Instead, they decided to bump it off by rocking it up and down on the trailer.

All was going well - only some minor damage to the hull was visible as it jumped its way off the rubber trailer strakes.

Unfortuntely however, their vigorous pushing also bumped the parking brake off the Dodge. Boy did those fools jump for their lives as the boat, the trailer and the new Dodge Ram ploughed down into the sea! If I’d had my video camera I’d be a rich man now!
